Well, here goes...

I don't know much about Guitar Hero one or two, but what I do know is this: this song is good. A remix may be unoriginal, but you still end up with a 9, let me tell you why:

The Intro -

Very low, bass, and coupled with that swinging synth (that travels up and down in terms of pitch) in the background, the intro packs a punch of mystique that really gets you intrigued. The point of the intro is perfectly fulfilled. 10/10 here.

The Post-Intro Body -

The traditional techno elements (basically the notes in that configuration sound very... regular conventional techno... don't ask why :p) combined with how they are distorted makes a fresh sound based on a classic. As it begins to build up further, repeating the theme twice, it really gets the tension going. The buildup is tenable when it finally hits that warbling higher-pitched synth. 10/10

The Climax -

This part of the song is perhaps the shortest, coming right after the buildup to the second "let's go!" vox. Unfortunately, there isn't much you built up to but a faster, louder, more intense version of the post-intro body. This area needs a bit of improvement and some lengthening. 7/10.

The Denouemont -

Basically, the song just carries on and fades out abruptly. Nothing to analyze, and it barely does the trick as far as ending the song goes. This definitely need improvement, I'm afraid. Give it something with a bit more umph, to leave you feeling awestruck that the song is actually over. 6.5/10

Your overall score is around an 8.5, but being the kind person I am I will round that up to a 9 for the review. Your ending is a bit shakey, but the intro and body are very solid and well put together. Perhaps the original song is shakey at the end, perhaps not. Either way, you get a 9 from the review, and a rounded-up 5 for the vote. Very well done.

Augh, reviews.

Much like in other reviews today, I do not feel like going through the whole song to analyze it, but I will, however, offer encouragement if not advice.

Good work. 5'd.

MaestroRage responds:

Thats perfectly fine Reaper93, i'm happy just knowing that it was able to entertain you! Thank you for your encouragement, and the review!

Well...

I don't really have much to say. I heard this song first in Super Crazy Guitar Maniac Deluxe 2, and I figured it was good (and decently simple to play in the game :p) so I would download it. Good song, 4/5.

Nicely done!

Well, here goes another review... I'll try to get right to the point so I don't waste your time.

This song doesn't strike me as having any real flaws, but not much of it sticks out which is exactly why. It's all kind of quiet and a bit ambient until around 2:30, which is a bit of a flaw. I really expect piratey things to be kind of "in-your-face" rather than more ambient, so work on that for the future.

Overall well put together, but needs some volume and crispness adjustment. 8 and 4 from me.

Lashmush responds:

This was uploaded when the 4MB cap was still in effect so I had to pull the quality down to 112kbps, thus the lack of crispness. The volume however is something that I need to work on, yes.
Thanks for the constructive viewpoint, friend. Looking forward to more of your opinions. ;D

Review time!

Well, let's start from the beginning, a very good place to start...

The song begins kinda happy hardcore, with that bouncing synth, but then quickly fades off into the actual intro. It's as though you're giving the listener a taste of what the song will give, but then you stop really fast to entice further listening. A very good intro bit, very laid back, and building up to the actual song.

Then we go back to the bouncing kind of sound, which I personally like a lot. It gives some serious character to the notes, and makes the song very happy overall. After the quick voice clip we hit the actual body of the song, which follows.

Well, after a minute and a half, it's about time we got to hear the main melody! It retains the bouncing, but it speeds up significantly, and throws in some new percussion. Basically nothing drastically wrong timing or note-wise in this area.

Finally the song fades out quickly, making it great for looping on your music playing program, even if the beginning of the song takes about a second to get started.

Pros: Very unique, happy, "bouncing" sound to the song. Good intro segment. Very nice main body to the song.

Cons: Takes an inordinate amount of time to get to the main melody of the song. Perhaps cut to the chase a bit quicker as a solution. Also, the ending is very brief, perhaps a slight change in theme for the end?

Overall very good song. 10'd and 5'd.

Similar yet different...

Just as a remix should be. Let's start breakin' it down...

The intro:

The intro to this song sounds an AWFUL lot like the intro segment for your Golden Sun battle remix. Not saying that's bad, it's just a kind of random riff thrown at the front composed of deep basssynth and some percussion. Doesn't really add anything to the song again, but still a nice touch to add some differentiation.

Then we hit the trancey main body of the song. It keeps true to the notes, but slows it down a bit, which I like in a remix. Too many remixes of this track consist of electric guitar and some drums. Not that that's bad, in fact they're pretty good most of the time, but this switched it up, and I like that.

More or less it stuck to the notes with the same instruments throughout, so I'll dock another point from creativity (the first being because it's a remix), leaving you with an 8. 4'd and downloaded. Well, downloaded it a long time ago before I made this account, but I still downloaded it :p

Argh, more reviews!

Well, once again, very unique. I'll do a pro con list due to being tired, and lists take less thought than paragraphs.

Pro -
Very original, like most of your work.

Very happy sounding, also like most of your work. Although that's a very mood-related pro.

Not too repetetive. I think...

Con -
Bit short. Not as short as some of the other things you've made, but with putting only an hour or so per minute of track, you can afford to throw another 2 minutes onto the end of your songs to make your fans very very happy. Having to add the song a few times in a row on a playlist just to hear it long enough for it to have its intended effect is annoying. I would know.

Overall, there really aren't glaring flaws with this song, either. No points where it's completely empty, or too bare, no points where it's too full, no points where reverb is used incorrectly...

Basically the song gets a 10 on mechanics, and a 9 on awesome. 19/20 is an A, good work. 10'd and 5'd.

F-777 responds:

Thanks man for the long helpful review!

Oi, just noticed you redid it already!

Well, basically the same things from my last review apply, especially the last part! Longer, not shorter!

Otherwise, exactly the same score for the exact same reasons :p

Got some punch indeed.

Well, let's start from the beginning, shall we? Long song, might be a while...

The intro is, well, very introductory. It serves no real musical purpose other than to let people know the song is starting. No real beats, no real leads, not much of anything besides that crow. Although I'll admit the crow reminds me of a killer song I heard once, so in my opinion there's nothing wrong with the intro. Maybe a tiny bit long? I mean most songs only have 3 or 4 maybe 5 second spans of not-much for an intro without anything to it, more or less, so maybe a tiny bit less room taken up by... nothing?

Then the piano gets us started off right. Sets a nice medieval tone to the song given the accompanyment from that choir and such. At which point the guitar cuts in and shreds your socks off, something completely unexpected, I must admit.

At around 2 minutes the theme changes a bit, and the guitar that was previously shredding us to pieces becomes the rhythm guitar, and a new one takes over (I think) as the lead. Certainly keeps the song fresh, if nothing else. Then the piano comes back to add the song, and I feel that's a good element as well, but I can't quite justify why.

The rest of the song seems to mostly carry itself through to conclusion without incident, except for the more frenzied pace of the ending segment, and a slight change in theme.

Overall very well done, gets a 4.5/5 on the review rating, and a 5/5 on the vote rating due to there not being a 4.5.

Lashmush responds:

The intro is actually waaayy too long, but this track used to be the introductory track of the "Antidestiny" 2CD project. I moved another track in as the intro and as such, this one does not need the long intro, but I've fallen in love with it the way it is and I do not want to change it now. ;D

Heh...

Not so often you hear an accordian in a song, but then again every stereotypical one-man-band has one. That and a harmonica. And one of those enormous bass drums. Anyway:

It mostly goes together well. I think i'll download it and give it a go if only for the novelty of the accordian. 4'd.
