Instant Classic

Bit repetetive, but as that was intentional, I can't really fault you for it. I dl'd ;)

NemesisTheory responds:

I'm glad you didn't fault me for it, haha. <3

I'm glad you liked it man.

Hmm

Bit repetative, y'all can bust out something fresher than this, I think (pardon my "street" terminology :p)

Given an 8 for encouraging the effort, but you guys need to get some variation in there, maybe pump up the song a bit more, as right now it seems flat and kind of monotonous at most points.

Good work!

I've been checking out your work for some time, and you definitely have been improving. Before you were on the brink of download-worthiness for me, and this song just crossed the line into the "keep on my hard drive" area. It's well done, seriously, keep this up.

One big slew of previews!

I liked 'em all. That's all there is to say, and I figured I'd give some support, even though everyone on Newgrounds practically worships you already anyway :p

Well, here we go.

I promised you a big review a while ago, here it is:

Intro (0:00-0:42) - This intro is exceptionally long, and very mellowed out and, as expected, deep. So, in that, it does its job, just it is a tad long and such. Maybe cut it back a bit. (2.5/3)

Body 1 (0:43-1:12) - This part of the song does a pretty good job in showing the melody, and the beat isn't too bad. I'm not much into a lot of deep trance, but it fits the genre to a tee, so I can't fault you on that. (1/1)

Break 1 (1:13-1:23) - This establishes of a bit of change in the song, and leads to body 2. Not much else to be said, but its placement is pretty effective. (1/1)

Body 2 (1:24-2:07) - This part is basically a continuation of Body 1, which means it scores basically the same. (1/1)

Break/Body 3 (2:08-3:32) - The break is a lot less pronounced, and the melody dips around a bit in this area, so I'll compile it into one section. This area has some variety, and some repetition. Not much else to be said. (.5/1)

Denoument (3:33-end) - The ending is a bit better at ending the song than the intro is at beginning it, due to the difference in lengths. Although, after around 3:42 there is literally no sound left playing (maybe there is, but I'd have to turn my volume hella high up to hear it), so you may wish to simply cut off those extra few seconds of time from the track. (2.5/3)

For the actual song structure you get an 8.5/10, not terribly bad, not awesomely good. However, now for the lil' "do I like it" factor.

Personal Preference (n/a-n/a) - Well, as mentioned, deep trance really isn't my genre, though I do occasionally stumble over a track of it that I enjoy. However, even for trance, this song is a bit repetetive for the majority without any real pattern to it (which, unfortunately, loses you points in my book). However, for a first attempt, it wasn't too bad. (3.5/5)

Overall score: 12/15 = 8/10. 4'd.

Ultra Smooth!

Intro's got that classic smooth, low key thing going, then it goes into a smashing hit of traditional (perhaps a bit too traditional :p) trance. DL'd and 10'd, despite repetivity.

Winterwind-NS responds:

yeah that's what I'm into, traditional trance.
not enough people can appreciate original trance here, much like my old friend MattBlair
who wasn't the most popular person in terms of his music here, yet is signed and is also getting his music out there in DJ pi's mixes.

it's a nice break from what is common in NG
which is like the typical i-VI-II-VII progression b0unc3-sounding dancecore tracks
not to bash the stemming genre, i too like to enjoy a bit of candy music from time to time as well.
glad u enjoyed the track

trance can never be too traditional :]
but what can i say, NGers will always prefer candy trance

Good stuff

Your music's got a certain feel to it, and I like it. Keep it up.

ZeRo-BaSs responds:

Thank you!

Can always appreciate this song.

This is a classic from a much-overlooked RPG. Props, 4'd.

'nother good one.

Your next song gets the Reaper Review treatment, but for now, I'll just have to say "this is another good one" and five it like it deserves :)

ROCK ON!

Loved your first mix, your second mix (markedly better than the first!), you third mix (LOVED IT!... left a long review, you never responded :( )and now, you give me THIS! YOU. ARE. AWESOME!

I have nothing more to say, this is instantly tenned. I fived it. I'm going to five it again tomorrow, and maybe one more time the day after that, for a total of fifteen out of five. This song rocks that much, not even kidding :)

Remix Requests Follow

(You think you could redo magma rock? I always loved that song... and the battle theme from the original! ...and the boss theme from the second one! ... and, hell, while I'm requesting remixes, hook us up with a nice doom dragon?)

End Remix Requests

Once again, good job :D
