Very nicely done!

I just hope you got ParagonX9's permission to use her Flying Battery Zone remix :P

arcanedragon-2004 responds:

IM from Reaper93: Me fucked up on the review of your S3/S&K medley. I thought you had used ParagonX9's Flying Battery Zone, turned out to be yours. If you can delete it, please do, that's a 100% my bad, but Newgrounds won't let me edit reviews.

My reply: Its cool bro, I did base it off hers though. She does do some pretty awesome work.

Absolutely amazing!

There is nothing more to be said. If I had improvements I'd give them to you, but I like it all so much already, there's nothing I can do to help :(

NemesisTheory responds:

While that sounds like a sad thing, largely due to the smiley/frowney, it's actually a big compliment, haha!

Thanks a ton, bro. :)

Another great vocal track?!

Me reviewing two great vocal techno tracks in one night? How could this be! Bah, I thought this kind of thing never happened. Oh well ><

Intro (0:00-0:40ish) - Well, I can't say it was much of an intro. It built up great, but there was a bit of a major problem with the body that caused it a big issue. Well, the intro itself, actually, was fine. It's really the body's problem. (3/3)

Body 1 (0:41-1:06) - Well, HERE is a big problem with the song. This body is the same as the intro build up! You never added or subtracted anything! That, in my opinion, really needs fixing. Well, I think it's sped up a bit, but really it's the same as the end of the intro buildup. You can't just build all that up and then not give the listener the satisfaction of something new. (1.5/3)

Body 2 and return to Body 1 (1:06-end) - No real issues here, some well done vocals, mostly, and a good return to the original theme. It was that the original theme never changed from the intro that's the real problem here! (3/3)

Did I like it personally? (0:00-end) - Why yes, yes I did. On the whole the song was very good. (1/1)

Bringing your score to an 8.5/10. That body not really changing any kind of hurt you pretty badly in my eyes, but remember, I'm not the be-all end-all music reviewer, so it's possible that's just what makes the song great for some people. It's just that those people aren't me :( 4'd and DL'd, however.

EON responds:

Thanks for that. These are the kind of reviews I could do with more of. I do appreciate the enthusiastic encouragement but structured critisism is what I really need.
And I guess you do have a point with the body not being much different to the intro, I thought the drums coming in in full would be enough but maybe it could have done with a bit more.
Thanks again.

Original, yet classic.

Personally, I'm diggin' that pipe organ in there :D

The intro is pretty low-key, but that would seem to go best with the game's playstyle. It doesn't usually start off all up in the action, it only gets that way after a... well, an intro :p

Once the theme is introduced at 0:34 by the brass pieces, I could really feel how it could be Terran-ish. But then it cuts off to a really low-key thing again, which was a bit unexpected. Gives it a nice lull in the middle, making the song more diverse.

The second time the main theme comes in it lasts a bit longer, but is not really any more diverse. This is a tiny bit of a fault, but not terrible.

Overall I'd say this song is on the right track, but it could use a bit of a push to get off the decent track list and onto the truly amazing ambient area (i.e. good background music). Could use a quality boost, too. The instruments sound a bit low quality (or maybe that's just the rate, I dunno).

ProudOne responds:

Wow, thanks for your review! Happens not often that a review helps so much.
I have to agree on everything you said, i know im still a beginner.
Thanks again!

Snazzy & Smooth!

Intro - Got a nice vibe going, very catchy, sounds like it's going to go somewhere. And it does! Good job on this area :p

Body - Got a lot of layering, sounds good, but it's a bit repetetive. I know it's trance, but, that's really killin' me. I don't want to listen to the same melody for 2 minutes straight ><

Ending - It's got a good fade-out going on and it finally varies the melody a bit. Sounds good.

This official Reaper review has been shortened due to time constraints. Sorry :(

Dj-UnKnOwN responds:

Yeah, i know what your talking, with the repetition, the downplaying synths were getting old after a while. But that was really in the beginning cause then i switch up the melody 1:59...but then i go right back into the downplaying synths, so there was a little diversity.

If you dont have any time you can always PM me and give me the full review

My previous review, updated for the update!

There's a few different things I specifically noticed, and I will start with the weirdest one:

What, exactly, is that weird guitar twitch at 1:30? I'm quite sure that wasn't there before, and it sounds odd... Not sure if that's a technical glitch or intentional.

During the guitar solo there's a bit of an issue with the left-right stereo: it seems to switch back and forth a few times. I'm relatively sure it's not my headphones, as they are rather high quality (and damn well should be for about a hundred dollars! ><), so if this is unintentional, it should probably be checked out.

In the second half of 1:37 you added another high note. It sounds different, but the same quality. I suppose you'll have to ask for other people's opinions on that.

At 1:43 you added a bit of a warbling synth. It sounds good, but try to make sure it doesn't interfere with the voice, it starts to towards the end.

You make the washout at 2:08 a lot more pronounced. Maybe cut that back a tiny bit, but keep it more obvious than in the WIP?

At 2:23 you make a washout where there wasn't any. I'm not sure that one works as well :(

2:35 we get that guitar solo I requested! Now that's got a good feel to it, but the transition could be blended a bit better. Other than the transition it works great :D

Right after the guitar ends we come back to that issue with transition again. It doesn't sound BAD, it just sounds a bit rapid and forced.

Finally, in the ending past the end of the guitar, we find once more that the voice is a bit hidden behind all the music, and I feel that should be changed so that the point of the song isn't shrouded behind your rocking beats (it is, after all, designed around the lyrics, or so I believe :p)

So there you have it, my analysis of what was changed, what I think still needs changing et c. It's still not QUITE perfect for the above listed reasons, but it's quite a bit closer. Hope I helped :D

CyrusOfNaias responds:

O_o Dude that's awesome a clear and thorough review :O

Yes you indeed helped :D
Alrighty crap yea I do have a lot to fix X)

Thanks a bunch~

Gah!

Too busy for one of my patent-pending Big Reviews(TM), so, unfortunately, you're going to be left with opinion instead of analysis.

My opinion: Good job. It's happy-ish. Yay.

Not as useful, I know ;(

5'd and DL'd, though :D

Kr1z responds:

Thx for the support :D
Bye ^^

!!!

Loved your first mix, but I don't think I ever gave it a proper review. In terms of work, this is just stunning. This is, without a doubt, one of my favorite video game tracks of all time, and some of that is thanks to the remixes you've done. In terms of what's changed, I can hear a distinct quality difference as well as a lot more stuff going on the background since your last version, and that is definitely a plus.

One fault I found in my personal taste was around 1:03 to 1:26 or so (might be a few seconds off either way) seems to go a wee bit too fast... That beat in the back is crazy and all out there, so its speed seems to affect the rest of the song without meaning to. Perhaps a bit more added to that section or some change in the beat would help reduce the bare-bones-ing and restore depth, thereby making the track not seem so rushed from there on out.

Just my two cents :)

CyrusOfNaias responds:

:D Dude you made my day, today! Thank you so much and I will continue revamping this remix in the future.

And yes it's a great track, isn't it?! ^_~

Instant Classic

Bit repetetive, but as that was intentional, I can't really fault you for it. I dl'd ;)

NemesisTheory responds:

I'm glad you didn't fault me for it, haha. <3

I'm glad you liked it man.

Ultra Smooth!

Intro's got that classic smooth, low key thing going, then it goes into a smashing hit of traditional (perhaps a bit too traditional :p) trance. DL'd and 10'd, despite repetivity.

Winterwind-NS responds:

yeah that's what I'm into, traditional trance.
not enough people can appreciate original trance here, much like my old friend MattBlair
who wasn't the most popular person in terms of his music here, yet is signed and is also getting his music out there in DJ pi's mixes.

it's a nice break from what is common in NG
which is like the typical i-VI-II-VII progression b0unc3-sounding dancecore tracks
not to bash the stemming genre, i too like to enjoy a bit of candy music from time to time as well.
glad u enjoyed the track

trance can never be too traditional :]
but what can i say, NGers will always prefer candy trance
