Pay attention you might miss something...

The attention to tiny details in this song is really quite amazing. Even paying full attention it's hard to tell all of the layers that're going on sometimes, and with little touches like a barely-audible cymbal in one of the transitions this displays a pretty superb grasp of how a whole is more than the sum of its parts in music. Absolutely enjoyable, lovin' it. Cheers.

Hmmm....

Been a while since I've given a review, but figured I'd drop one or two while I checked out the top songs tonight.

I've gotta say, this being the list of top songs does not disappoint. It sounds sort of like it has a subdued punk style to it, almost like something Pendulum might make, though admittedly their last dubstep track was a bit more of a departure.

Still, that tangent aside, it's very well put together, and I like that it has a lot of actual tone to it and not just the ridiculous bass filtering common to a lot of dubstep. Don't get me wrong, it has plenty of ridiculous bass filtering, but the fact that it has a really nice contrast between the lyrical parts and the bass dropping is wonderful. A lot of tracks just hammer you and refuse to let up, but I think the different elements works in its favor a lot. Makes it fresh, at least for me, so great stuff and keep it up.

Yeaaaah

It's a bit minimal for my taste but it punches my ears out.

That is to say, dayum it's punchy :p

Whoo boy

Really good, but lighten up on stuffing as much as you can fit simultaneously into your tracks! It gets really crowded, look into using EQs and panning to widen the available audio canvas :)

Soundin' good!

Does the original justice for sure. Can I ask what plugins/recorded instrument(s) you used to achieve the sounds in this? It all sounds pretty crisp so I'd be interested to know how that was achieved.

rtnario responds:

Hahaha, I recorded no instruments and if you want more info go for PMs :) Thanks for the review though!

Hmm

It sounds a touch unstructured compared to what I'd like to hear. That more sine-ish background synth with a smoother sound to it, I'd love to hear that come in as the melody beefed up significantly after the drop. It does come back, and I like that a lot, but it doesn't quite scream "lead" - it still sounds like an element of the background by that point. Maybe double or triple up the polycount on it by layering it over itself or something, I dunno.

Lol.

Normally I give useful reviews, but I'd just like to comment this sounds like it'd fit in a less-than-serious Nintendo game like Warioware pretty well.

Hmmm

I really liked the panning, did you model the channels after a real orchestral arrangement or was it more improv?

DJ-Chilvan responds:

Oh shit! I didn't even see this review lol=P Sorry!
In all of my classical songs (except for my first one lol), I channel everything based on a real orchestra layout, but the only difference is that I usually pan the contrabass more left rather than to the right, where it is located in a real orchestra. This is to provide a main balance of sounds and so the bass won't overpower the right channel, which also has low frequencies such as the cellos and timpani.

Always loved this tune

And, as usual, your work blows mine out of the water. I really should revisit this one myself, but for now I must bow to your superiority ;)

I especially like the cuts between the theme, really great job mixing those smoothly and giving it its own feel while still keeping the most memorable pieces in the same place and, as usual, your percussion is simple but very forceful and really drives the track and your well made synths definitely give the right feeling for a megaman game inspired track. Kudos, mate.

This is Huge

And reminds me that I need to buy some of your retail music. Huge props for providing the audio community with free remixes, and again I must stress that you continue your method tutorials for FL Studio - upcoming composers like myself need the help! Plus, the more you help the community, I'm sure the more exposure your music will get, and no matter how successful you are, more exposure is always good!

Top class mix, blows almost all other portal submisions away like everything else you submit. 5/5, 10/10, download... probably an album purchase or two... ;)
