The reverb...

That guy down there was kind of right. The kick, especially, is very muddled from overapplication of reverb. The snare (e-snare I think) in the beginning half of the song sounds GREAT, very crisp, clean, and puts out a good beat. The melody is good, but again, EVERYTHING sounds reverb'd. I had a huge problem with overapplication of reverb in the beginning of my audio career because it made my song sound "big" and "open", but if you scale back the effect to only a few instruments or a less extreme level overall it'll sound a lot better. As painful as it is, the best songs are made through moderation.

Only boost and cut EQ by a few dB unless you're gonna be cutting all the way, only apply reverb lightly to most instruments, adjust all the velocities of hits slightly, stuff like that really takes time but makes a great song. This has a lot of potential but I can't hear it through all the reverb! Vote rounded up to 4 :)

YouriX responds:

Cool thanks for the input. heck i'll make sure to concentrate more on the mixing now. And i do fully agree with the agruments of milk and so on.
Thanks for the review by the away!

This has great potential

But the big thing here is that the track needs a better mastering job I think. It'd improve clarity by a LOT which is what the track really needs, the instruments are kind of blending into each other way too much. If you'd like some help with that I'd be glad to assist. Voted 4 cause I round up.

Cosmos8942 responds:

Oh I know this one has great potential...but the original file (and its branch files) have disappeared into the wind. Its a bit of a bother...I would love to go back and master this piece as I wasn't finished with it in the first place but without the master track (and all thereof) it'd be too difficult to recreate and thus remaster (etc) everything. So I think I'll just leave it as is...if anybody would like to do something with this feel free but I'm not expecting much x.x.

Thanks for the review, its always nice to get a new one now and then.

Liked the original

This may be a bit on the quiet and minimalist side for me, but I respect the effort.

Maximalyd responds:

Thank you. :-)

Really quite good

I'm not big on the hardstyle bass, but the rest of it I love.

SpazeMusic responds:

Thanks! :)

Genre?

Sounds Drum and Bass to me. Maybe too MUCH bass :P

PearlDrummer516 responds:

Yeah, this song is due for some remixing. I'm glad you liked it though.

Gandalf audio clip

At least I think it was. Props on that ;p

Might be a bit distorted, though, should doublecheck volume levels at parts :)

CKC2009 responds:

yh i just changed the pitch of it :)

its too late to check distortion once your song gets 1000 views (i think)

u cant change audio

:(

thanks!!

Been waiting for some Surge

Don't feel in the mood for anything with vocals at the moment, but you're definitely back on your groove. Keep the stuff coming, I dig it. Big review forthcoming, possibly for your next piece depending on genre.

CyrusOfNaias responds:

:D
That's great to hear, and more work will definitely be done in the future. People like you keep me going xD

None this time

No monster block paragraphs, I just don't have it in me - been having some sleep problems recently, too tired. But I liked this a lot, very well done. Five'd for taste ;)

NemesisTheory responds:

Thanks, Reaper! :)
I hate Insomnia, btw. :(

Time to break out the big one

Time for my first big review of the new year!

First off, the wind instruments are great - simple but they really add a lot of dimension. Very trance-like build up and there's a lot of action going on at once here, no wonder this has had such high acclaim.

Now, I'm not sure I can support the switch to piano around :45ish because it seems to make very little effort to return for another 45 seconds, and one time instrumental insertions are just not my idea of a good use! But that's just me, and I'm sure others feel differently. Personally I believe that you needed to combine that a bit more instead of keeping in separate segments, perhaps have them switch more frequently (every few bars?) to create a better dynamic.

The song is very simple, but some would say this is a plus, so I won't hold it against you - it's still very well constructed! I have to say that I like the orchestral instruments thrown in, but they could use a bit more work on placement in my opinion.

Well, look at that, that wasn't a very big review. Oh well, start off with baby steps :p

F-777 responds:

Your right the song could have been more dynamic,
thanks so much for the review man =).

The melody and bassline are simple but the setup
in the background is not even close to simple XD.
Theres about 3 extra saw patterns that you can't
really distinguish (i did that on purpose) but they
add pretty good to the background in my oppinion =).

Thanks again for the review its nice when someone
pours out their oppinions on every part of the song =).

No long review :(

However, I will give you one in the future. I'm glad you're back, first and foremost, and this song is superbly well-made. I really think it sounds great, it just flows nicely.

Not my favorite tune on Earth, but the song itself is just constructed so damn well I can't fault it. Maybe do something a little more, well, I can't quite put it, but something with a little more energy to it, then you'll have it perfect - but the song itself flows greatly, and its technical aspects are top-notch. 5'd.

PERVOK responds:

Ever since I started writing music, I always thought that the least descriptive term you can use to describe an element in a song is "energy" :(

Whatevs, thanks for the review man, you know that I appreciate it :) I just woke up though so I'm probably just a dumb bastard.
